When Roger Huang left Taiwan to escape his abusive family of origin, he thought he'd lose himself in the riches of luxury hotels in San Francisco. But that all changed when he saw the unjust conditions for the kids and people of the Tenderloin. His heart broke and he sought to effect change hitting the streets with compassion, one peanut butter and jelly sandwich at a time. This organic movement lead to a forty year commitment of building a school, establishing a church and rescue mission with a medial clinic and recovery center. The pinnacle of his dedication was illustrated in his 33 day hunger strike in front of San Francisco's City Hall in 2004 to draw attention to all the unjust conditions, human trafficking and drug epidemic impacting thousands of people, including so many children. His efforts continue in San Francisco with his wife Maite and this film will elevate his story to the world.
